Daimyo-No Shinobu Blended Whisky
Shinobu Distillery, located in Niigata of Japan, is famous for its “Three White Treasures” namely snow, rice, and sake, due to its pure water source. Shinobu Blended Whisky is a selection of handpicked exceptional malt and grain whisky aged in ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks and finished in rare Japanese Mizunara Oak. Meticulously blended by Master Distiller, Ken Usami, this unique expression contains 50% barley malt and 50% grain, and has a sweet vanilla aroma on the nose, woody maltiness followed by slight incense of sandalwood from Mizunara Oak. “Shinobu” in Japanese means “forbearance”, which is considered an important trait of Japanese culture, this, the name reflects the spirit of making great whisky.

Niigata is renowned for its abundance of soft and clear water, and is often referred to as the land of the “three whites” – snow, rice, and sake. The Master Distiller, Usami Ken, has applied artisan beer methodologies that he has accumulated over the course of more than 30 years, particularly in the areas of mashing and fermentation. Fermentation takes approximately six days on average, resulting in a new make that has a clear and solid body of unparalleled aroma. This Shinobu single malt Newborn is blended by hand with new make that have been aged in Mizunara and 1st fill bourbon casks for more than a year.
