Capurro Pisco Moscatel Review

by Evangelina Galyean

What is Pisco? It is a typically near colorless type of Brandy that is made by distilling fermented grapes into a high proof spirit. This particular form of Brandy is produced in regions of Peru and Chile. Both countries enforce strict guideline as to how and where this spirit it to be made, these rules provide consumers with the purest and most authentic form of Pisco.

Capurro Pisco has played a large role in the development of Peru’s national spirit. Their family’s history with the drink goes back over 100 years and spans five generations. Their Pisco is made in a unique spot within the Ica Valley in a city called Nasca that provides the extended hours in hotter temperatures needed to produce a sweeter and more reliable grape at harvest. The coastal desert climate that holds their single estate provides minimal rainfall, instead the vineyard seeks water from the ancient subterranean aqueducts that carry water from the pristine Andes Mountains.  If you are looking to experience culture that is unwilling to sacrifice natural ingredients and unadulterated methods in order to make a superior product Capurro Pisco is what you need. Made from 100% grapes, unfiltered, undiluted, and with zero additives to alter the flavor, odor, or appearance. You can experience the raw flavors and aromas as they were meant to be enjoyed.

Nose– soft pink roses, seltzer bubbles, sweet lime, sweet mint, wildflower honey, and blue chamomile.

Palate- Fresh rain and grape infused rose water, additional floral notes that are too many to distinguish but delicate enough to not overwhelm the palate, a beautiful bouquet on the mouth that is reminiscent of a gentle spring mist amid a flower filled garden.

Finish- delicate bubbly like sensation that is gentle and smooth as it rolls down the throat.
