Red Turkey Wheat is one of America’s great enduring wheat varieties, dating to the 1870s. Once common across the country, it is preserved today by artisan bakers and distillers – and farmers – who care about flavor. Whether in bread or Bourbon, Red Turkey confers rich, grain forward flavors typical of old-time wheat varietals, while in this case, conjuring a zesty brightness to rise from the glass.

Since our founding in 2014, we’ve focused on making great whiskey as a vehicle for good. Our inaugural Headliner release exemplifies this mission – sampling our full distilling catalog to create a supergroup of whiskeys.

This year’s Headliner is anchored by our first ever bourbon whiskey, now ten years old.

Our 2024 Release reflects our flagship bourbon mashbill, batting together 65% Bourbon Whiskey, 30% Rye Whiskey, and 5% Single Malt Whiskey. The resultant blend highlights a rich balance of rye spice, warmth from the extra years inn the barrel and touch of dark fruit. With proceeds from each bottle going to local charitable organizations, this is a blend worthy of tip billing.

We often think of our 100% malted rye whiskey as a malted whiskey first, and a rye whiskey second. The graceful, elegant style of the malted grains shines through first and foremost. Thus, we wondered: how would this malted whiskey perform in sherry casks, as so many global malt whiskeys are traditionally aged? The result: a round, rich, enveloping wave of first-fill sherry oak, followed by a burst of rye spice into the finish.

For this iteration of our Maltster line, we explore a specialty roasted crystal barley malt called T-50. Used by many top craft brewers, this malt is gently roasted to achieve a mellow nuttiness. Together with our signature high-rye content, the result is equal parts toasty-savory malt and spicy rye.

For our first Wheated Bourbon, our distillers reached into their brewing background and found inspiration in classic wheat beers. Here we mash three different wheats – Bohemian floor malted wheat, raw wheat, and a measure of gently kilned dark wheat together with our locally grown corn. It’s a new riff on a much-loved Kentucky Bourbon tradition.

New Riff New Make is distilled from bourbon mash and bottled at 80 proof. New Riff Distilling is a new riff on an old tradition, that tradition or theme being Kentucky Bourbon. Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. New Riff crafts a range of whiskeys—Bourbon, Rye, and eventually Malted Rye and a host of specialty recipes—as well as Kentucky Wild Gin. Their mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries. Becoming one of the great small distilleries of the world is a long term play, with no exact ring to win, or title to be declared.

Comprised of up to five different mash bills, and slowly matured in a multiplicity of cask types, this unprecedented whiskey welds Old World inspiration to Kentucky’s sour mash technique. Distilled in our column beer still and doubler, it weaves a wealth of malty flavors into oaken age: a bold new concept in the time-honored Kentucky whiskey regimen.

Filled on June 26th, 2014, this exclusive single barrel offering from New Riff’s Batch One Bourbon was auctioned for Western Kentucky Tornado Relief. Bottled at barrel proof without chill filtration, this well-aged, high-rye Bourbon is how New Riff raises a glass (and funds) for our embattled neighbors in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

New Southern Revival Brand is a celebration of the rich agricultural traditions of our region. We work with farms in the South to source only the highest quality, heirloom grains. This wheated bourbon is made with our prized Jimmy Red Corn and White Sonora Wheat, considered to be the oldest wheat varietal in the US. The result is a full-bodied spirit demonstrating how the addition of wheat can add layered complexity and depth to an already extraordinary spirit.

Nikka Days is a subtle blend of grain and malt whiskies, meant for enjoyment at any time by those who appreciate fine whisky on a regular basis. The blend is structured by the mellow and smooth Coffey Grain Whisky and aromatic non-peated Miyagikyo malts, along with a touch of Coffey Malt Whisky and Yoichi malts to enhance the bright sweetness and rich body. The complex and delicate blend results in an extremely silky mouthfeel, with fruity and floral flavors that rise and expand, leaving behind a delightful aftertaste. Both the flavors and appearance of Nikka DAYS were designed to highlight the bright side of whisky and whisky consumption. This elegant whisky can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, in a simple highball or refreshing cocktail.
