On the night before Christmas, our feisty Ileach fisherman – Big Peat himself – embarks on a one-man mission to hand-deliver his special festive bottling, sprinkling a little Malt magic into homes all over the world. This remarkable Islay Malt Scotch Whisky shows bold notes of earth, chewed leather, and ash, balanced by a wonderfully warming sweetness.
Proudly offered without coloring or chill-filtration and bottled at a natural cask strength of 52.8%, this potentially punchy dram is the perfect accompaniment to those long, chilly winter nights.

Big Peat Christmas Edition 2023 Cask Strength

Then comes candied peel alongside Hebridean sea air and ‘his’ signature peat.
Bottled in line with the Douglas Laing family’s belief that whisky should be offered ‘as natural as it gets’, this remarkable malt is proudly offered without chill-filtration or coloring and at a natural cask strength of 54.8% alcohol.

Big Peat Mizunara Cask Edition 10 Year Old
In commemoration of Douglas Laing’s 75th Anniversary, Big Peat is delighted to unveil a masterpiece. This limited edition presents a collaboration of whisky artistry as Islay single malts are met with the honey’s sweetness from rare Mizunara oak. Uncork the bottle and enjoy a sweet, mellow style developing to charred oak and a hint of peat smoke. The palate is oily and mouth-coating – an oceanic style mingles with gentle spices, damp earth, and desiccated coconut. The finish reveals rich oak alongside creamy caramel, allspice, and fragrant bonfire embers. Enjoy this inimitably elegant dream in all its natural glory: at high alcohol strength of 48% and proudly without coloring or chill-filtration.

Douglas Laing 12 Year Old Strathmill Speyside Region Single Cask
One of 314 bottles charged from a refill hogshead ref – DL14681. This single cask was distilled December 2008 and bottled March 2021.
Nose: Clean and citric with a crushed sugar effect before maple syrup, spices and cereal grist.
Palate: The same (dry) spices are apparent early, morphing into juicy barley and a fudge style.
Finish: Shows an attractive mocha backdrop with burnt orange pith and later vanilla (FHL)

Nose: Maple-glazed smoked ham, blackcurrant, and rosemary jus with an oceanic quality.
Palate: Perfectly spiced with black pepper, charred meat, and a slated chewy toffee style.
Finish: Catch honey roasted nuts, more lingering smoke, lemon peel, and dried barley.

Nose: Dark toffee gives way to baking spice, chewed leather and ripe, autumn fruits.
Palate: Cocoa and mocha alongside a creamy cereal style with h=juicy plums and grape juice.
Finish: Spiced, damp oak lingers on and on with a dark chocolate and Sherry sweetness.

This single cask was distilled November 2009 and bottled November 2021. One of 136 bottles charged from a refill hogshead REF – DL15435.
Nose: A smoky sweetness with coastal sea air and charred wood
Palate: A caramel sweetness for sure running to bacon crisps, seaweed and peppercorn
Finish: Long… maritime with seashells, bonfire embers and gentle spice

Timorous Beastie Cask Strength Meet The Beast
Scotch Whisky, Blended Scotch Whisky, Whisky/Whiskey, Cask Strength Whiskey, Brands, Douglas Laing, AlcoholDouglas Laing & Co recently announced the release of Timorous Beastie “Meet the Beast”, a cask strength, limited edition partner to their Highland Malt brand of blended Scotch whisky.
This release has been matured in ex-American bourbon barrels, the bottling is offered at a natural cask strength of 54.9% and comes packaged in a black bottle with a red capsule and premium gift tube, the brand’s trademark mouse character and monochromatic colorways are featured, complemented by flashes of bold red.
